5 Kickstarter Comic Book Projects You Should Check Out

What Is KickStarter?

To keep things simple, Kickstarter is a platform that allows creators to raise funds for the completion of various projects. They post a project or an idea. If you like it, you can donate towards its completion. Depending on the donation amount, you usually score some decent rewards. Often time, it’s a finished version of the project you donated towards. I want to stress that Kickstarter is not a store. Meaning, if the project is not successfully funded, that is if it does not hit its monetary goal in the allotted time, you are not charged and the reward is not sent out.  So in a selfish effort to get some things I find cool made, here are 5 currently running KickStarter projects I think you should check out.

Hell In Stalingrad

This 80-page pulp horror graphic novel takes focus on two soldiers from opposing sides of World War II. Their mission? Putting their political ideologies aside, they must work together to save Earth from an other worldly threat in the midst of one of the bloodiest human conflicts of all time.

Bolt Action 2

As a lover of the exploitation genre, that is movies and media from the late '50s through the '80s that attempted to push the boundaries of what was socially acceptable in mainstream media, Bolt Action 2 was one of those no brainer backings for me. Sometimes you want life lessons from your books, other times, you want boobs and car crashes. Well, here you'll find,"...a fun Magazine style comic. No Woke. No Politics. Lots of Boobs and car crashes."

-Viridae

"A post-apocalyptic comic series chronicling the impact of a mutated Ebola virus and its effects on humankind." This title was, of course, topical with everything going on in the world, which is likely what drew me to it. The artwork previewed also feels minimalistic, in a good way. The sparing use of color within the sort of washed-out world gives everything a more intense look and feel. Seems like a good bet for a fun horror read.

This Book is Full of FILTH

Described as, "An an-thot-logy of comic smut and fun activities for grown up weirdoes." This 180 page, sex positive comic collection is shaping up to be a fun exploration into the world of sex, if the projects backing and funding are any indication. Eisner nominated Megan Rosalarian Gedris ensures us of fun ride. She'd also like to remind you that it is, "1000% not for kids."

'We Live'-Momoko Variants

With everyone in the community fully in support, and in search of, Peach Momoko works it seemed important to mention that El Rey Comics is doing two new variants for the Aftershock title 'We Live'. Both by the fan favorite artist herself. The shop also features many of her signed works, as well as upcoming covers.
